Abstract
The authors report a case of localized Scleroderma in a 7 year-old girl. Three years prior to admission, she became aware of a small depressed patch in the right inguinal region. The lesion gradually enlarged by linear extension superiorly toward the lower abdomen and inferiorly to the external genitalia. Twc years later, the original lesion extended to the left side of the lower abdomen and invovled the right major labium. A zone of alopecia simu!taneous¢¥.v appeared in the right fronto-parietal area and followed by focal loss of medial half of the right upper eyelash.
These lesions remained stationally for a period of about 6 months, thereafter two depressed spots appeared near the right angle of the mouth and on the right chin.
Examination on admission revealed a linear depressed groove along the right inguina! line and marked atrophy of the right major labium. Thus there was remarkable asymmetry of the major labia. A broad band like linear Scleroderma was present in the lower abdomen bellow the umbilical level. There was a patch of alopecia with sclerosis and depression in the right fronto-parietal region. The loss of eyelash was present in the medial half of the right upper eyelid. The right pinna was noticeably atrophied and smaller than the left pinna. The skin and subcutaneous tissue in all involved regions appeared tropliic and thin but no pigmentation was present. Skin biopsy revealed slight increase of cornification of the epithelium, slightly diminished appendages of th e corium and infiltration of small round cells.
